Be sure to wear your Toronto Blue Jays gear or shades of blue to show our support for our home team.

Who doesn't like Spring flowers? School Council is doing a Spring Flowers fundraiser through Vandermeer Nursery.
Orders are done through School Cash Online.
Delivery is April 15, 2025, just in time for Easter.

Welcome Back!!!

It has been so nice welcoming everyone back to school this week and reconnecting! 

Weather

January has brought extremely cold weather with it! We still make every effort to get outside during our nutritional breaks so it is very important that students come to school dressed for the weather. Along with hats, mitts and coats, snowpants are necessary for the wind and cold temperatures and neck tubes are so helpful for students who don’t necessarily like coats zipped up to the top. 

Lost and Found

Our lost and found is overflowing and all laid out on a table in the front foyer. If you are in the school please take a moment to see if anything belongs to your student. Labelling personal items is highly recommended as many of these items look alike and students don’t necessarily recognize their own belongings in lost and found. 

Kiss and Ride

With the steady rise in numbers of our school community, kiss and ride is getting increasingly busy causing delays for our bus and traffic to be held up on the main road. 

We are strongly encouraging families to make use of the side gates for drop off in the mornings, especially for our older students. 

When making use of kiss and ride please pull all the way up to where the adult is standing (by the gate to the yard), and remain in your vehicle. Staff on duty will help your student with backpacks etc. 

If you would like to get out of the vehicle with your student please use the side gates. 

Academic success

Arriving on time is crucial for your child's learning. 

Literacy is taught first thing in the morning, and when students are late, they miss important lessons as well as community building in their classroom. Thank you for supporting your child’s education and success by ensuring they arrive on time.

Dear KPR Families,

Although it’s chilly outside, KPR classrooms continue to be warm, vibrant, inclusive spaces filled with the positive energy of students and staff.

Learning during Black History Month is ongoing, as we intentionally recognize the achievements, contributions and lived experiences of Black communities, and commit to reflecting Black History and Black Excellence in classroom resources and learning opportunities.

The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion department, through KPR’s Facebook and Instagram accounts @kprschools, continue to support learning and growth by sharing insightful resources that honour and celebrate the stories, achievements, and excellence of Black communities – both locally, and across Canada in all areas of society. I hope you will follow along to learn more.

We also continue to share highlights from the 2024 Director’s Annual Report on our social media channels. Today I’m very pleased to share a short #WeAreKPR video that draws attention to the impactful work of Student Success team staff Erin MacKenzie and Danielle Moher, who work every day to support students and promote opportunities in co-operative education, the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship program, the Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program and Dual Credits. Pink Shirt Day is coming up on Wednesday, February 26, a chance to wear pink as a visual reminder to stand up against bullying, to celebrate our differences and promote kindness and compassion. We want our schools to continue to be safe and inclusive places for everyone.

Kindergarten Registration

KPR’s local public schools offer safe and inclusive environments where children learn through play! Kindergarten Registration for the 2025-2026 school year is open. Please share this information with families who have young children.

Children can attend school in September 2025 as follows:

·       Junior Kindergarten – children are four years of age by December 31, 2025

·       Senior Kindergarten – children are five years of age by December 31, 2025

OPSBA Awards

Do you know an amazing trustee, teacher, education worker, school administrator, student or community member who deserves to be recognized for making a difference in their local school or community? Nominations are now open for the 2025 Ontario Public School Boards Association Awards!

Nominations for awards are open until April 4, 2025, at 4:30 p.m., except for the Bernardine Yackman Memorial Award, which is open until June 6, 2025, at 4:30 p.m.

ATTENTION: ALL KPR SCHOOLS AND BUILDINGS CLOSED THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 13

As a result of the extreme storm and weather (significant snowfall, freezing rain and ice pellets) forecasted to develop across regions of the Board over the course of this evening and tomorrow, all KPR schools, childcare centres, buildings, and worksites, including Education Centres, are CLOSED Thursday, February 13, to students and staff.
